The dataset is ordered into eight main folders, which contain all raw data necessary for the reproduction of the plots and tables given in the publication structured according to the method applied: "Contact_Angle", "Cyclovoltammetry", "Electrochemical_Impedance_Spectroscopy", "Flow_Electrolysis", "Laser_Scanning_Microscopy", "Porometry", "Scanning_Electron_Microscopy", "Spray_Coating_and_Loadings". Each folder indicating the method contains sub folders named according to the sample that was investigated with the method.

Abstract: In this study, the role of the binding agent in the silver-based low-temperature electroreduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) to carbon monoxide (CO) was investigated by comparing silver nanoparticle-based gas diffusion electrodes (GDEs) prepared by ultrasonic spray coating with binding agents that are most frequently applied in this field of study. The GDEs were analyzed electrochemically using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and tested in galvanostatic flow cell experiments at a current density of −200 mA∙cm−2 for 2 h. The electrochemical analysis revealed strong effects on the double-layer capacitance as well as the charge transfer resistance, depending on the type of binder used. In flow cell experiments, the selectivity of the electroreduction was mainly determined by the hydrophobicity of the binding agent. Furthermore, post-test laser scanning microscopy (LSM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging showed that the mechanical stability of the catalyst layer was largely affected by the binding agent.
