Description
|
This regional climate scenario dataset was produced with the Terrestrial Systems Modelling Platform (TSMP, https://github.com/HPSCTerrSys/TSMP). TSMP features a closed terrestrial water cycle from groundwater across the land surface into the atmosphere with a sophisticated treatment of subsurface and surface hydrodynamics. The coupled component models used within the TSMP infrastructure are the Consortium for Small-scale Modeling (COSMO) v5.01 atmospheric model in climate mode, the Community Land Model (CLM) v3.5, the hydrologic model ParFlow v3.2.0 , and the OASIS3-MCT2.0 coupler. The simulations were carried out as part of the Helmholtz Initiative Climate Adaptation and Mitigation (HI-CAM). The TSMP runs also contribute to the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) COordinated Regional Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX) project with its European initiative (EURO-CORDEX) and to the coupled experiment within the Climate Limited-area Modelling Community (CLM-Community). The TSMP dataset contains all terrestrial essential climate variables at 3h time step, further temporal aggregations are not provided. The TSMP simulations were set up over the EURO-CORDEX domain (EUR-11), using a rotated latitude-longitude grid with a horizontal resolution of 0.11° or approximately 12.5 km. TSMP simulations were performed with COSMO boundary conditions from the MPI-ESM-LR GCM of Max Planck Institute (experiment: r1i1p1, resolution: T63L47), e.g., Giorgetta et al., 2013. The initial conditions for CLM and ParFlow are taken from ERA-Interim reanalysis driven TSMP evaluation run (Furusho-Percot et al., 2019). Simulations were performed for a historical time period from December 1949 until the end of 2005, and for the climate change projections with the Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) 2.6 and RCP8.5 until the end of 2099.
